The annual Biotechnology Innovation Organisation (BIO) Convention was hosted in June 2017 in San Diego, California, and saw thousands of representatives from biotechnology companies, academic institutions, biotechnology centres and related organisations world-wide.
The BIO International Convention is the largest global event for the biotechnology industry and attracts the significant names in biotech, offers key networking and partnering opportunities, and provides insights and inspiration on the major trends affecting the industry. The event features keynotes and sessions from scientists, CEOs and celebrities too. Various QUT staff were in attendance at the June BIO Conference, and included Professor Peter Coaldrake, Professor Arun Sharma, Professor Ross Young, Professor Lyn Griffiths and Professor Michael Collins from QUT’s Contact Lens and Visual Optics Laboratory. These QUT staff had the opportunity to meet with Queensland Premier, Ms Annastacia Palaszczuk.
