
Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Allergy Research Group at CIIC
Dr Karolina Bednarska is an immunologist and early-career researcher currently appointed as an Allergy Research Postdoctoral Fellow at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She joined the QUT Allergy Research Group in October 2023, where she has contributed to several key projects and is currently leading a study Identifying the main concerns of people living with allergic rhinitis (hay fever) to set patient-centred research priorities.
Before joining QUT, Dr Karolina Bednarska worked as a Research Officer at the Mater Research Institute, contributing to a range of immunology and translational health research projects. Prior to her PhD, she worked at a National Influenza Centre, collaborating closely with the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. In this role, she conducted Influenza diagnostics and characterised circulating Influenza strains to inform the selection of optimal strains for seasonal flu vaccines.
She completed her PhD in 2020 at the University of Queensland within the Blood Cancer Research Group. Her doctoral research investigated Natural Killer (NK) cells and explored innovative strategies to harness these immune cells to target Hodgkin lymphoma.
Dr Karolina Bednarska’s research interests span immune cell biology, cancer immunology, and allergy, with a strong focus on developing immune-based strategies to improve human health.
