Senior Lecturer, Neuroscience and Anatomical Sciences

Dr Fatemeh Chehrehasa’s research focuses on brain neurogenesis/regeneration and the role of glial cells in brain repair and regeneration. She studies neuroinflammation and neurogenesis in response to i) brain and spinal cord injury and ii) addiction (sugar overconsumption) and neurodegenerative disease.
Fatemeh is currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biomedical Sciences at QUT. She completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Queensland, and undertook her post-doctoral training at the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD) before moving to QUT in 2011. She teaches neuroscience and advanced anatomy to biomedical science, podiatry, medical imaging and radiation therapy undergraduate students.
