
Caroline is an HDR student in the Ecosystem Change and Population Health (ECAPH) research group at QUT’s Centre for Immunology and Infection Control under the supervision of Professor Wenbiao Hu, Associate Professor Francesca Frentiu, and Distinguished Professor Kerrie Mengersen.
She graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and has a Master of Public Health from Griffith University. She started at QUT at the beginning of 2024, investigating climate change and weather variability and the risk of Japanese Encephalitis Virus transmission in Australia using spatiotemporal modelling, to improve future surveillance and early warning for encephalitic arboviruses. Caroline received a Queensland University of Technology Postgraduate Research Award (QUTPRA) for this work.
Caroline is one of the 2025 CIIC HDR reps, assisting with the organisation of CIIC HDR and centre events.
