Project dates: 01/10/2010 - 30/09/2027
Enzymes are nature’s precision chemists. They can catalyse reactions with exquisite selectivity that cannot be achieved with conventional synthetic chemistry.
We aim to discover new and more powerful ways of using enzymes to catalyse reactions needed by agriculture, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries. This includes using cell-free protein expression to rapidly prototype newly discovered or engineered enzymes, and combinations of enzymes in synthetic reaction cascades.
Our projects and collaborations span natural product synthesis, drug metabolism, enzyme discovery, and construction of synthetic metabolic pathways.
