Doctor of Philosophy (Queensland University of Technology)

I am a chemist and materials scientist with nearly 15 years of experience in research and laboratory professions.

My research methodology focuses on the synthesis of nanomaterials, biosensor applications, biomass conversion, and bio-oil production. I have contributed to over 20 publications, earning over 980 citations and an H-index of 13. My work includes converting agricultural wastes into valuable products and developing innovative solutions for environmental sustainability. I have held research assistant positions at the Nanotechnology and Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT) in Malaysia and QUT, managing multidisciplinary projects.

I hold a BSc in Agricultural Engineering - Food Science and Technology, an MSc in Food Science, and a PhD in Chemistry from Queensland University of Technology (QUT). I have worked at NANOCAT and QUT, contributing to significant research projects.

Notable projects include:

  • SARS-CoV-2 Detection: Designed a DNA biosensor for disease diagnosis, published in Scientific Reports.
  • Biomass Conversion: Developed a one-step conversion of sugarcane bagasse to xylooligosaccharides, featured on the cover of Green Chemistry.
  • Biodiesel Production: Reviewed emerging technologies for biodiesel production, published in Biomass and Bioenergy.
  • Environmental Sensing: Published on gold-carbon nanocomposites for contaminant sensing and mesoporous carbon-MgO nanohybrids for CO2 capture.
  • Food Adulteration Detection: Reviewed a dual platform-based sandwich assay DNA biosensor, showcasing my expertise in analytical techniques.
  • Electrochemical Biosensing: Fabrication and application of graphene-metal nanocomposites.
  • Meat Origin Identification: Reviewed methods for identifying meat origins in food products.

My expertise includes analytical techniques such as XRD, SEM, TEM, HPLC, zeta potential measurements, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, and microwave-assisted extraction. I am dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge, finding innovative solutions to real-world problems, and collaborating with like-minded professionals.
