Principal Supervisor:  Dr Jerome Ramirex

Associate Supervisor/s: Prof. Ian O’Hara and Prof Richi Nayak

Expected final thesis submission date:  Before 31 December 2024

CAB Research program:  Bioprocessing

Aban Sakheta is a third-year PhD student in the bioprocessing program at the Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy (CAB).

Aban studied Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia, and graduated in 2015. He started his research career as a Research Assistant during his Master’s Degree. He worked on process design and modelling of natural gas processing.

His research interest in modelling has led him to join CAB under the supervision of Dr. Jerome Ramirez to develop high quality models for thermochemical conversion of agricultural and forestry wastes to biofuels. His research involves utilisation and fusing of tools such as Aspen Plus and Machine Learning. He aspires to deliver solutions to the bioprocessing industry and aid decision-makers in commercialising sustainable processes.

In his free time, Aban enjoys playing tennis and reading science fiction.
