James completed a Bachelor of Science followed by a Master of Philosophy at QUT. His masters research focussed on investigating the population genetics of feral pigs in far-north Queensland, and identifying if any landscape features may be associated with gene flow. He then went on to work as a research assistant at QUT with the Fruit Fly research group investigating the population genetics and landscape ecology of Queensland fruit fly. In his current PhD studies he is working with Professor Peter Prentis on a detailed investigation into the genomics of the Australian native lime, Citrus glauca.
