Lakey is a second year PhD student with the Agrifood systems Program.
Lakey worked for the Department of Agriculture (Bhutan) managing agriculture research and development programs. He also worked on several multilateral technical projects including ACIAR which he led as the Bhutan Team Leader. Lakey is also one of the founding members of the Bhutanese Journal for Agriculture and served as the associate editor. He was also part of the core team responsible for drafting Bhutan’s first National Adaptation Plan and the Low Emission Development Strategy for Food Security as part of Bhutan’s NDC.
Lakey’s research examines how policy and strategic planning frameworks, and socio-economic determinants interact with climate-driven shocks to influence producer decision-making in integrating sustainable plant-based protein production practices. With legume integration as a cornerstone of plant-proteins, the research is expected to offer insights into key agri-food system elements and their roles within the larger plant-protein narrative.
Lakey is a movie buff, an avid reader, occasional singer, and a hobbyist photographer.
