Mentoring the next generation of female STEM leaders at Myriad High

This week, Professor Mia Woodruff, PhD students Maureen Ross and Naomi Paxton, and final-year engineering student Amelia Luu volunteered as mentors for the incredible Myriad High event at QUT. Run by the Chair in Digital Economy Professor Marek Kowalkiewicz in partnership with Myriad, QUT and Women in Technology, 100 female high school students from 19 schools across QLD participated in a one-day event to encourage female participation in global innovation and entrepreneurship.

Joined by Ministers Kate Jones and Grace Grace alongside QUT’s new VC Professor Margaret Sheil, Mia, Maureen, Naomi and Amelia had a wonderful day engaging with the passionate and motivated high school students and mentored teams during their challenge to find solutions to end cyber-bullying.

Congratulations to all the participating schools and future female STEM superstars, as well as the organisers and sponsors of the event for making it so successful!
