QUT Estate Master Planning Transport Surveys and Components

QUT Estate Master Planning

Project dates: 12/08/2016 - Ongoing

QUT is a vibrant and well-established Queensland university, with nearly 50,000 students studying a wide range of courses. We have two lively campuses located within 3km of the Brisbane CBD. These campuses along with our distributed sites offer high quality learning, teaching and research spaces to better meet the needs of students, academics and researchers working to provide real solutions for our changing world. QUT is developing a new Estate Master Plan to guide future growth and changes to QUT’s physical estate which encompasses all facilities, buildings and landscaping. We currently own and operate two major campuses – Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove – along with a network of distributed sites primarily located in South East Queensland.

The aim of this research project is to understand travel behaviour patterns and trends of QUT staff and students as a part of its major campus planning initiative. The research will enable the QUT’s Facilities Management to establish the daytime and weekly variation in the population on QUT’s three campuses, and the transport options used by students and staff to travel to and from campus. Robust estimates of the campus population and travel arrangements are essential to ensure adequate planning and service provision for QUT staff and students.
