Developing generalised crash prediction models

Project dates: 01/07/2020 - Ongoing

This project aims at developing both Safety Performance Functions (SPFs) and generalised crash estimation and severity models for Queensland. These SPFs are expected to replace those currently included in the Australian National Risk Assessment Model (ANRAM), which were developed using data from a different state. Replacing the SPFs in ANRAM with those developed using local data is expected to provide superior and consistent results.

Our research team will perform a detailed comparison of the existing SPFs and those developed in this project, which will illustrate associated advantages and complexities, and identify opportunities for implementation and future research. We’ll develop and implement software with a user-friendly graphical user interface to enable easy use of the algorithms and models created as part of this research project.
