Circular Case Study – SWOP

Designer Vintage Resale

Founded in Brisbane in 2013, SWOP is a secondhand clothing business offering a curated seasonal selection. With stores in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and a not-for-profit op-shop in Brisbane, (Local OPY), SWOP prioritises circular fashion practices.

Core Business

SWOP uses a direct-buy model, sourcing stock directly from its community in exchange for cash or store credit. Their mission, “Rotate your wardrobe responsibly,” aims to reduce linear consumption by encouraging garment resale and care. Donations are assessed based on strict guidelines, favouring items that are stylish, in-season, and in good condition. In 2023, SWOP rehomed over 78,000 items, facilitated 16,610 exchanges, and raised nearly $50,000 for causes via Local OPY.
