Circular cycling wear
Scody is a Brisbane–based cycling kit manufacturer committed to circular textile practices. Their initiatives include utilising high quality recycled polyester, reducing on-site energy consumption and diverting pre-consumer waste back into a local recycling stream. Operating for over 50 years, Scody is headquartered in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Brisbane.
Core Business
Scody manages the printing and cutting of cycling kits and other sportswear on–site before sending to a manufacturer on the Gold Coast for assembly. The garments are fabricated from a high-quality recycled polyester made from 45% recycled Coolmax and 55% generic recycled polyester with an antimicrobial treatment. This fabric, sourced from Taiwan, demonstrates Scody’s commitment to sustainability, however their reliance on imports, highlights limitations in Australia’s textile manufacturing infrastructure.
Collaborative Strategies
Since 2022, Scody has partnered with BlockTexx, a textile recycling facility located 15 kilometres southeast of their headquarters. This collaboration has enabled Scody to divert 25-50% of their offcuts from waste streams, enhancing their sustainability efforts.
