Circular Case Study – BlockTexx

Textile recycling facilitator

Located in Loganholme, just south of Brisbane, BlockTexx is one of Australia’s only chemical textile recycling facilities. BlockTexx converts unwanted textiles and clothing  into products for industries like agriculture and construction. The company currently gathers the hard to recycle polyester and cotton blends from a range of large companies and government agencies’ uniforms, commercial laundries, charities, manufacturers and local councils. Their proprietary Separation of Fibre Technology (S.O.F.T.) recovers polyester and cellulose from blended fabrics, achieving a 95% recovery rate.

Core Business

BlockTexx recycles textiles into rPET pellets and cellulose clay, which are sold to various industries. Cellulosic fibres and blends such as bamboo, flax, rayon, lyocell and modal are also recyclable by BlockTexx. Their in-house blockchain technology, TraceTexx, ensures transparency and traceability in the recycling process, providing data for ESG and SDG reporting for their clients.

Community Engagement

BlockTexx hosts Give a Sheet for the Planet, bed linen collection events delivered by councils.
