Supercapacitors

From past several years, our group is consistently working with an integral approach on different aspects of supercapacitor such as electrode materials, electrolytes and cell design (symmetric and asymmetric) to develop high performance devices. We use different chemical methods to prepare various kinds of materials including oxides, molecular clusters (polyoxometalates), conducting polymers, nanocarbons and their composites in power and thin film forms.  This has allowed us to build exceptional knowledge on the basic electrochemistry of energy storage devices, different device configurations, and electrolytes. Following are key research areas of our interest

  • Novel electrode materials for high power devices
  • Electrolytes (Liquid and polymer-based electrolytes)
  • Micro-supercapacitors for wearable electronics
  • Piezo-Supercapacitors for medical implants
  • Electrochemical Flow Capacitors for large scale applications
