
Hiruni is a doctoral student at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, working on developing polymeric electrothermal heater applications. She received her M.Phil. (Chemistry ) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ), Sri Lanka after completing the bachelor’s under a combination of Chemistry, Polymer Science and Technology and Physics at the same university. Her M.Phil. research was on the synthesis and development of a slow-release urea-encapsulated polymer hydrogel. Hiruni has 5 years of academic and industrial work experience in research and development, glove and textile-based manufacturing and project management at Ansell before starting her PhD in January 2023. Her research interests lie in polymeric composites, polymer coatings, elastomers and hydrogels.
