This project addresses the Queensland Department of Education Research Priority:
- How can education systems and schools best support and build on the knowledge and skills of bilingual learners?
The specific research question for the project:
- What resources can schools and communities develop to support two-way communication with bilingual learners and their families about schooling and school processes?
Research objectives
The project aims to provide research-informed practical outcomes for schools and bilingual students and their families. The specific objectives of the project are to:
- improve two-way communication and information exchanges about teaching, learning and administration
- enable greater partnerships for supporting learning at school and at home, including with multicultural community organisations
- promote the capacity for informed decision-making by bilingual students and their families, and
- demonstrate an explicit commitment by schools to a culture of respect and inclusion for all members of the school community.
