| For the past 28 years, the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) has supported the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in its vision for a safer world—one where injury-related harm is both uncommon and unacceptable. Through this partnership, QUT’s Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety-Queensland (CARRS-Q) has made a global impact on transport, occupational, and community safety through high-quality research, education, and advocacy.
MAIC continues its commitment to road safety at QUT by funding the MAIC-QUT Road Safety Research Collaboration (MQ Collab), a three-year research program focused on advancing Road Transport Psychology and Road Transport Safe Systems. With over 30 staff and postgraduate scholars, the key areas of research of the MQ Collab include: (i) improving road safety attitudes and behaviour in support of a positive traffic safety culture; (ii) improving the safety of young drivers; and (iii) improving the safety of vulnerable road users. Through this collaboration, MAIC and QUT continue to drive meaningful change in road safety, striving to reduce road trauma and create safer transport systems for all. |
