Madusha’s area of interest is molecular and cell biology. She received her honours degree from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2015. Then she joined ‘Genetech Sri Lanka’ where she gained industry experience in molecular diagnostics for two years. She has recently completed her PhD degree in Natural Products Chemistry (Biodiscovery) from the Queensland University of Technology. During her PhD she investigated the antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties of secondary metabolites isolated from Australian native plants to cure chronic wounds. Currently she’s working on ‘wearable predictive diagnostics for warfighter maintenance’ project as a postdoctoral research fellow under the supervision of A/Prof. Tony Parker. Her main role is to determine molecular biomarkers derived from different biological samples (blood, saliva, interstitial fluid, and sweat) that can predict cognitive, and physical performance.
