Combining world-class expertise in physiological, psychological, biomedical, engineering and data science, our group will develop a multi-function “Performance Patch” sensor. To do this we will identify robust biomarkers (molecular and physiological) indicators of human stress and performance, which encompasses both the body (heat stress and musculoskeletal stress) and mind (sleep deprivation and psychosocial stress) domains.

These biomarkers will be integrated into novel performance prediction sensors, based on real-time data arising from wearable systems, tailored specifically for defence personnel. Augmentation of defence personnel with wearable sensor systems that are integrated with biochemical and environmental contextual information will create a step change in training and task specific selection approaches. Ultimately, this program will provide significant biometric data to aid decision-making and to optimise human performance.
