Exploring The Reef

The first Eco-Explorations module centres around exploring the Great Barrier Reef, where students will be educated on and address issues present in the environment
The Great Barrier Reef module has been developed in collaboration with marine scientists Catherine Kim and Luke Nothdurft of the School Of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. Their contributions have helped immensely in ensuring the accuracy and educational focus of the VR experience.
The team is also utilising 3D printing to create engaging hands on experiences for students.

The Eco-Explorations Great Barrier Reef module has been in development since August of 2024.
Throughout November of 2024 an alpha prototype of the Great Barrier Reef module was showcased to the public at Supanova Brisbane 2024 as well as to students from Bray Park State High School during the QUT ENGAGE – Explore Your Future program.
The module continued to be developed throughout 2025 alongside the Daintree Rainforest module, incorporating feedback from events such as the ones shown above, as well as through continued discussions with consultants that are experts in their respective fields.
