This research program of the City 4.0 Lab aims to address contemporary urban planning and development problems by focusing on the existing and emerging state-of-the-art urban innovation advances. The program not only concentrates on finding new ways to deal with social, economic, environmental, governmental, and technology-related problems of our urban environments and communities, but also makes sure that these innovative practices, solutions, and services are fully responsible ones.
Urban Health and Wellbeing
This research program of the City 4.0 Lab recognises the significant challenges for urban health and wellbeing posed by various social, environmental, technological, and economic factors; challenges exacerbated by their multifaceted nature and interconnectedness. In addition to understanding the detrimental impact of these factors, the program also acknowledges and seeks to explore the unique potential of urban environments and systems to enhance health and wellbeing.
Urban Environment for Ageing
This research program of the City 4.0 Lab concentrates on to understand and create an age-friendly urban environment that supports and values older people of the community. The program not only develops innovative solutions for senior living environment, including both built and social environments, but also disseminates and transfers the innovation into industry practices and government policies, thus creating value for senior citizens of our society.
Adaptable Urban Environments
This research program of the City 4.0 Lab enquires how urban systems evolve, morph, and respond to current challenges, such as climate adaptation, pandemics, deep changes in our economic paradigms, migration, or socio-cultural dynamics. The program has a dual focus; it enquires the tangible physicality of the city from an urban design perspective, investigating the morphology and morphogenesis of natural and built environments, building typologies, public spaces, landscapes, and infrastructures.
