Next-generation mathematical models for brain imaging

Associate Professor Qianqian Yang

is using advanced mathematical techniques to improve the analysis of a powerful type of brain scan called diffusion-MRI. These improvements can help doctors to get more accurate brain images without increasing scanning time, especially in situations where traditional imaging analysis methods struggle. Her work focuses on making sense of complex scan data that traditional models cannot handle. The result is sharper images that show better contrast between different brain tissues and reveal details that were previously invisible. These improvements in advanced diffusion-MRI data analysis could help researchers study brain structure more accurately and assist doctors in diagnosing and treating brain diseases more effectively. Her research makes significant contributions to both medical imaging analysis and applied mathematics.
