Distinguished Professor Dietmar W Hutmacher
is one of the world’s foremost experts in scaffold-guided bone regeneration. This technology has been used to treat more than 100.000 patients worldwide, including those suffering from severe injuries to the skull and leg, and children and adults with congenital deformities. Patients are implanted with a personalised, 3D-printed scaffold that stimulates the bone’s inherent ability to regenerate, guiding the tissue to form a suitable architecture. The scaffold then dissolves, eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove the implant. D/Professor Hutmacher’s distinguished research career, with his industry experience and an MBA, has provided him with the scientific expertise, leadership skills, and management experience necessary for conducting advanced industrial research.
