The Timinglab investigates time in the brain, from a neural, cognitive, and behavioural perspective. We use computational methods and neuroimaging techniques, particularly multivariate EEG decoding, as well as psychophysical and behavioural approaches, to study how the brain works over time.

Emotion, Learning, and Psychophysiology

Research in the ELP-Lab at QUT is concerned with emotion, attention and their interaction. In particular, it is concerned with the manner in which emotionally salient stimuli such as facial expressions are processed and how emotional responses such as likes, dislikes or fears are acquired, maintained and reduced. Our research uses behavioural and psychophysiological paradigms to address these questions.

Research in the LCBS lab examines human information processing, making use of a range of methodologies, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI; an approach that has been called cognitive neuroimaging), electrophysiology, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and behavioural paradigms, in both healthy and neurologically disordered populations.

The Biology, Memory, and Trauma Lab is a multi-disciplinary lab that seeks to understand how different biological systems are involved in memory processes underlying traumatic disorders. Our lab uses experimental paradigms that assess trauma-related memory symptoms in healthy and clinical participants, and we typically measure biology using saliva, hair, and blood biomatrices with mass spectrometry at QUT’s chemistry department.

Emotion, Learning, and Psychophysiology

Led by Dr Stephanie Tobin, the Cyberpsychology Lab investigates how people use and are influenced by social media. Our lab uses experimental, correlational, and qualitative methods to understand the intra- and inter-personal processes that affect thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in online spaces.
