Paediatric Asthma and Wheeze Study – PAWS

PAWS

What is this study about?

In this study we are investigating if using a WheezeScan device can improve the management of wheezing illness in preschool children and the management of asthma in children already diagnosed. The WheezeScan accurately detects wheeze. Many chest specialists rely on descriptions of wheeze to help diagnose and treat asthma. This helps them determine whether additional asthma puffers will help to prevent acute flare-ups and hospitalisations. We want to be able to compare the outcomes of children with and without asthma.

What are the aims of the study?

We aim to find out if using the WheezeScan

  • impacts on the assessment of how well childhood asthma is controlled
  • improves the diagnosis of asthma
  • improves quality of life
  • enable better management of asthma and
  • impacts on healthcare costs
