Julie works at the Children’s Centre for Health Research in collaboration with Children’s Health Queensland and Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH), on predominantly clinically-based respiratory research in paediatrics. She supervises PhD students whose work involves various aspects of cough research in children. Early in her research career she completed a PhD entitled “Paediatric Chronic Cough: Defining illness burden and causes”. This early research aided in building of the clinical definition of protracted bacterial bronchitis (PBB) in children and she has since been involved in international collaborations about PBB which has now been incorporated into paediatric cough guidelines worldwide. Julie continues to be involved in clinical research in all areas of childhood cough, and importantly PBB. In addition Julie works as a respiratory paediatrician clinically at QCH.
