Process Analysis: Pre-hospital Triage to Patient Outcome
This is a collaborative research project between the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC), Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) and Jamieson Trauma Institute.
Context
This multi-faceted proposal aims to align the definitions of (major) trauma across the various branches of Queensland’s health service using evidence-based insights gained from a detailed analysis of process data provided by the research partners. The project also aims to discover relationships between patient, injury characteristics, interventions conducted in the field, transport dispositions, and interventions performed within the tertiary care environment with patient outcomes. The project aims to understand the information exchanged between emergency services and hospital teams as it informs patient assessment, trauma team activation, and clinical decision-making. Lastly, the project aims to enhance the analytics associated with linked Qld trauma data by working with digital health stakeholders to identify opportunities for embedding the analysis techniques used in this project into the underpinning information clinical information system.
