ScanCave: 3D Imaging Facility for Screen, Games, Cultural Heritage and Education
Located in the Creative Industries Precinct of QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus, ScanCave is a full-service optical 3D imaging facility featuring several unique photogrammetry systems – including Australia’s largest permanent human photogrammetry rig (80 cameras), plus a white infinity-studio with multi-camera dolly system especially suitable for capturing complex fragile objects such as garments.
ScanCave also includes a precision computer-controlled turntable rig plus automated macro focus-stacking system for digitizing extremely small objects. Deploying multi-camera rigs is a ScanCave specialty. It significantly reduces the time and tedium traditionally associated with optical 3D scanning. And time is money!
People, garments, fossils… from priceless objects, artefacts and specimens to the everyday – you name it, ScanCave is the one-stop shop for all your 3D-scanning needs.
This section of the XR Screen Futures Hub Website explores the research, experiments and projects done in ScanCave, plus provides lots of useful tips and tricks for improving your photogrammetry!
