Submission to the National Youth Commission

Five members of the Work/Industry Futures Research Program – Deanna Grant-Smith, Paula McDonald, Katherine Moore, Penny Williams and Bernd Irmer – recently published a Submission to the National Youth Commission into Youth Employment and Transitions.

The submission notes the need for reform to many of Australia’s industrial relations laws and employment policies. Implicit in the submission’s recommendations is the need to approach youth training and employment policy, research and programs as an investment in Australia’s future workforce participation and productivity rather than as a short-term cost with the burden of ‘failure’ placed on the individual young person.
