The Queensland University of Technology has established research excellence in the fields of Structural Wind and Fire Engineering.
The Wind and Fire Lab engages a team of postgraduate researchers, post-doctoral research fellows and academics specialising in structural wind and fire engineering research.
The 15-member wind and fire engineering team of qualified professional researchers, is one of the largest groups in Australia.
The QUT wind and fire engineering lab exists to:
- Conduct both fundamental and applied research in structural wind and fire engineering and disseminate information through publications, seminars, workshops and conferences
- Undertake multidisciplinary research related to the safety of steel buildings against wind and fire disasters and disaster resilience in general
- Provide first-class education in Structural Wind Engineering, Structural Fire Engineering, Steel Building Safety and Disaster Resilience
- Deliver wind and fire safety testing and consultancy services to industry and profession
