
Asanka Sandaruwan is a Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, holding a Bachelor of Science of Engineering Honours Degree. Prior to commencing his doctoral studies, he served as a Temporary Instructor and gained valuable academic and industrial experience. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia, with a research focus on the Structural behaviour, capacities, and design of Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) C-section trusses used in floor and roof systems.
His work involves a combination of experimental testing and advanced numerical modelling, aiming to enhance current design methods under standards such as AS/NZS 4600, AISI S100, and Eurocode 3. His research is strongly supported by industry collaboration, particularly with Scottsdale Construction Systems.
