    Ursula is an Optometrist with a special interest in vision impairment.  She completed her Optometry qualification at the University of Wales, Cardiff, (UK) in 2001.  She worked in a variety of settings in the UK, including general practice, hospital Optometry, and laser refractive surgery, before moving to New Zealand in 2008, where she worked as a senior clinical tutor at Auckland University, supervising final year students, and overseeing the university low vision clinic.  Ursula began working at QUT in 2009 as a research assistant on the Longitudinal Assessment of Novel Ophthalmic Diabetic Markers (LANDMark Study).

    Ursula is currently completing her PhD at QUT investigating the functional impact of macular degeneration on older adults, and its link to falls, and fear of falling.  She has published a paper entitled “Fear of Falling in Vision Impairment”, and has presented her PhD research findings at “Vision 2017” an International Low Vision conference.

    Ursula is a member of the (British) College of Optometrists, and Optometry Australia.  She also works as a consultant Optometrist for Education Queensland State-wide Paediatric Low Vision services.
