Theoretical and Practical Vision Laboratory

Theoretical and Practical Vision Laboratory

The Theoretical and Practical Vision Laboratory uses statistics, modelling and experimentation to improve clinical assessment of the visual system.

The lab’s research focuses on:

  • The measurement of visual acuity
  • Optical measurement of the eye’s structures
  • Statistical assessment of the repeatability of clinical measures
At its core, vision is probabilistic. One of the lab’s strengths is using probability mapping for analysing data.

The following staff from the Theoretical and Practical Vision Laboratory manage research projects and deliver research outcomes:

  • Dr Andrew Carkeet
  • Dr David Alonso Caneiro

HDR Students currently completing their doctoral research with the Theoretical and Practical Vision Laboratory are:

  • Ms Barsha Lal
  • Mr Andy Christiansen
  • Mr Asik Pradhan
