Our research in the fields of myopia, contact lenses, anterior eye, optics of the eye and imaging, melanopsin photoreception, and the impact of visual impairment has impact, with high publication rates in top-quality journals, numerous invited presentations at high profile international conferences and substantial industry research funding.
In the teaching program, we ensure our students receive a strong foundation in the sciences and are community-minded. We train our students in evidence-based practice and immerse them in real-world clinical placements.
We worked with the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand (OCANZ) and a wide range of generous collaborators to review, strengthen and align our program with the OCANZ ‘Optometry Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Health Curriculum Framework’, putting cultural safety at the heart of QUT optometry training.
