Swapna Premasiri

    Swapna is a PhD student working on AI-based beamforming techniques for the project “wearable ultrasound imaging systems for astronauts for automatic thrombosis detection”.

    She holds a master’s degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC, Vancouver), where she focused on identifying suitable data fusion and machine learning approaches for sleep apnea monitoring and classification. She also holds a postgraduate diploma (PGDip) in Telecommunication & Electronics from Sheffield Hallam University (SHU, UK).

    Prior to joining the QUIQ group, Swapna was a lecturer at the Sri Lanka Technology Campus (SLTC) and the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). She was also a research student at McGill University, where she focused on machine learning models for segmentation of the hippocampus.

    Supervisors for Swapna’s current project are Prof. Davide Fontanarosa (Principal Supervisor), Prof. Zhiyong Li (Associate Supervisor) and Dr. Maria Antico (External Supervisor, CSIRO).
