Dr Jacqui is Research Assistant with the QUIQ Research Lab working on projects relating to ultrasound and shear wave elastography.  She is a Senior Sonographer in private practice and part of the teaching team for Medical Ultrasound at QUT.  Dr Roots is a member of the Australasian Sonographers Association Special Interest Groups for Emerging Technology as well as Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.

Her recent PhD project was “Shear Wave Elastography to Assess the Change in Stiffness of Muscles in the Acute Stage Post-Stroke”. The aim of the project is to explore the use Shear Wave Elastography and other advanced Ultrasound technologies as a novel diagnostic test for muscle stiffness. This project was awarded the Australasian Sonographers Association 2021 Research Grant. Jacqui’s Principal Supervisor was A/Prof Davide Fontanarosa with Associate Supervisor A/Prof Gabriel Siqueira Trajano .

Dr Jacqui’s experience working as a Sonographer in private clinics and public hospitals, in both Australia and the UK bring a strong clinical focus to the research group.
