Madeliene completed her honours in behavioural science in 2018 where she found a passion for genetic research from a psychological background. Since 2019, she has been a HDR student working on the genomics of alcohol relating with stress/mental health in different populations. Her current project investigates the genomics underlying alcohol consumption, problematic drinking, psychosocial stress, and mood problems in veterans comparing those who have PTSD to those who do not. The main aims are to determine any differential genetic outcomes and to determine biomarkers of alcohol interacting with stress and PTSD in this stress exposed population.
