Bio and research:

Darrell joined the Brown lab in 2016 to use his expertise in developing and optimizing biological assays for drug discovery screens for autoimmune diseases.  After finishing a BSc (Honours) in biochemistry at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada he continued on to do an MSc in Professor Esther Verheyen’s lab investigating the role of the Nemo MAPK in the Wnt/TCF pathway in Drosophila melanogaster.  He subsequently completed a PhD in Professor Catherine Pallen’s laboratory at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada in 2010.  His PhD project involved investigating the role of the tyrosine phosphatase PRL3 in metastatic prostate cancer.  He then undertook a post-doctoral position in Professor Georgia Chenevix-Trench’s laboratory at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research institute in Brisbane, Queensland where he conducted drug studies on mouse models of breast cancer.
