Bio and Research:

Dr Candice Lee is a cellular immunologist who completed her PhD with Professor Carola Vinuesa at the John Curtin School of Medical Research at The Australian National University. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher in the functional genomics team within Professor Matt Brown’s group at QUT. Her particular interests lie in the inflammatory arthritic condition ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and she aims to unravel the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate AS pathogenesis. Her focus lies in understanding molecular and cellular immune regulation pathways involved in disease in the hope of  exploiting this knowledge to develop effective immunotherapy approaches for treating AS patients. She was awarded an NHMRC Peter Doherty Biomedical Fellowship in 2016 and has received the Frank Fenner Medal and The Dewar Milne Prize in Immunology for the most outstanding PhD thesis submitted in the JCSMR in 2015.
