PhD (Queensland University of Technology)

An award winning designer, Hilde’s career as a fashion designer began in graphic design, marketing and advertising. Creating content and imagery for lifestyle brands including Westfield retailers formed her career in fashion visualisation. Later, pursuing international opportunities, Hilde worked in layout for fashion magazines Vogue, Elle and Madame Figaro in Paris.   Following this, she began her own designer label, employing and managing a team of highly skilled fashion professionals, producing top range garments.  On her return to Australia, the business produced and wholesaled high end formal wear collections, followed by the opening of boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. After several successful years owning her own label, Hilde became increasingly interested in sharing the wealth of knowledge she had accumulated in the fashion industry and joined the QUT career Mentor Scheme. After pursuing post-graduate studies, and now a lecturer in fashion in the School of Design, Hilde applies her strengths in illustration, design studio work, styling, fashion communication, as well as fashion visualisation through manual and computer aided design. Her current research explores the nexus of small-scale fashion entrepreneurship, fashion technology and sustainability.
