I am developing a project to create a 2D diamond (Diamane) on SiC substrate from precursor graphene. The project plan involves the passivation of graphene with Fluorine which is capable of transforming the sp2 bonds into sp3. I am using DFT calculations to prove the existence of this material theoretically, and surface science techniques to study the resulting material after fluorination.
