STIR Trial
WorkSafe Victoria have partnered with QUT to evaluate STIR. The aim of the trial is to evaluate the cultural, safety and financial benefits Health Services and Aged Care Providers realise by using the STIR app. The trial runs for 2 years and is halfway through, though recruitment is ongoing.
What is involved in participation?
As part of the project, QUT will collect de-identified data from STIR incident reviews completed by participating organisations. This means app users will need to use the STIR app to collect data on workplace injuries sustained by staff across the trial period. OHS officers/ safety practitioners will also be asked to complete short on-line surveys at four time-points through the course of the project (i.e., commencement of project, 6-months, 12-months & completion of project). This survey will measure changes in the workplace safety culture, OHS officer/ safety practitioner confidence in using systems theory principles, the usability of the STIR App, and safety and financial benefits as a result of making changes to work systems and processes following the implementation of actions generated from the STIR app review process. OHS officers will also be invited to participate in workshops (i.e., communities of practice) throughout the project to share lessons learnt on investigations and generating systemic actions to reduce the incidents of workplace injuries.
