Entrepreneurial science education for secondary schooling: A co-design study with teachers in the Philippines

Entrepreneurial science is an interdisciplinary approach to scientific research that combines scientific inquiry with entrepreneurial principles and practices, originating in the United States over recent decades. Most recently entrepreneurial science education has emerged involving the integration of science education and entrepreneurial education. Entrepreneurial science education (ESE) involves learning a range of skills, behaviours and attributes for building learner confidence towards taking action on opportunities: Managing risks to create social, cultural and/or financial value through science. The present study investigates this novel field of education using a co-design methodology with science teachers in the Philippines.

The project will investigate: (1) a detailed conceptualisation of ESE; (2) ways to embed ESE within secondary school curriculum and pedagogy; and (3) a design research methodology relevant to science education contexts in the Philippines.
