Challenging Mis/disinformation: Exploring Future Science Teachers’ use of Online Information

This project will investigate how preservice science teachers identify and evaluate information online to reduce the spread of mis/disinformation in their future classrooms. The project will generate new knowledge about preservice teachers’ cognitive and emotional processes for identifying and evaluating online information for science teaching. Expected outcomes of this project include informing the design of preservice science teacher education programs and instruction across Australia to reduce the impact of mis/disinformation. This project provides social and cultural benefits through enhancement of curriculum and instruction to ensure preservice science teachers are workforce ready for dealing with online mis/disinformation.
