Will Tinapple is a Lecturer in Digital Media in the College of Indigenous Futures, Education and Art (CIFEA) at Charles Darwin University. In this role he builds on his varied experiences as a filmmaker, a digital learning resource developer, an ABC media producer for regional stories, and a classroom high school science teacher – to research, design and present innovative learning experiences to a range of students. Will has strong interests in the power of storytelling, immersive learning, extended reality, and group problem solving in the education realm. He has worked extensively in remote Indigenous communities as educator, a collaborator and producer of story-based education projects in health, natural resource management and the arts – but often he is very much also the learner in these intriguing and culturally diverse contexts. Will is a member of the CDU CIFEA STEAMlab idea sharing team. He is currently excited about research and design opportunities for education-focussed escape room learning experiences and exploring the potential these sorts of physical and online immersive experiences might be able to equitably offer students across the remote and geographically larger distances that we work across in the north of Australia.
