Subhashni Appanna (PhD Candidate)

    Subhashni Appanna is a PhD candidate who is excited to explore the social sciences domain after having practiced and taught natural sciences at both secondary and tertiary level for 12 years. Her passion lies in exploring the problem of student disaffection in school science. More specifically, her study aims to investigate emotional challenges experienced by students during science inquiry to inform teachers’ pedagogy. She graduated with a Masters in Marine Science from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji in 2001 and later with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from QUT in 2011. This helical journey of teaching and learning throughout her career together with supportive family, students, colleagues and mentors, inspires her to venture into unravelling the plethora of research in science inquiry and emotions.
