Nicole Boyd

Nicole Boyd’s teaching career in remote Northern Territory middle years’ classrooms has focused on building relationships and direct dialogue with parents, assistant teachers and community members to co-design and deliver culturally safe and equitable education. Nicole’s research interests focus on how to privilege Indigenous students’ voice and promote student agency over measurement learning. Privileging students’ voice with respect to their interests in knowledge concepts inter-related to Akatyerr (desert raisin); and, listening to community members regarding the right way to conduct Two-way dialogue on Akatyerr, permits students to access concepts of measure while maintaining cultural obligations at important Akatyerr harvest sites.
