Dr Charlotte Pezaro is passionate about primary teaching, science education, technology education, and working with teachers to become competent and confident teachers and users of science and technology. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology), a Graduate Bachelor of Education (Primary), and holds a PhD in science education from the University of Queensland. In her research, she examined the claim made in many curriculum documents around the world that “learning science helps people to make good decisions.” Charlotte found that the pedagogical approach of the teacher impacted on the decision-making capabilities of the learners, regardless of the curriculum focus. Charlotte was a primary school teacher with Education Queensland for 6 years, teaching in remote, regional, and city locations. She also developed and coordinated several courses in the Primary initial teacher education programs at the University of Queensland. Charlotte has also facilitated teacher professional learning and educational resources for QSA (now QCAA), AITSL, and CSIRO Education and Outreach. She has also worked as a researcher at the University of Queensland Critical Thinking Project. Today, Charlotte is proud to be working with Brisbane Catholic Education teachers seeking to improve their confidence and capacity to facilitate STEM learning experiences for their students in their classrooms, while also running her own educational PL consultancy called Dialogic Education Services.
